Computer Recycling Day at New Canaan Nature Center.

Reprint From NCNC Website

Earth Day: Recyclefest '08
Saturday, April 19
1 - 4 p.m.
Head to the Nature Center for a chance to clean house in an environmentally-friendly and information-safe way! Staff from ComputerFox will be collecting, dismantling and recycling your old computers, preventing the hazardous wastes such as barium, lead and phosphorous from going into our landfills. This safe method of computer recycling will also prevent a rising cause of identity theft by ensuring that no one has access to old information. In addition, representatives from a paper shredding company will be on hand to shred old credit card statements, tax information and other sensitive paper material, providing proper recycling and identify theft security.

The Nature Center will also be accepting alkaline batteries (no car batteries), used compact fluorescent bulbs (CFL), personal printer cartridges, and cell phones for proper recycling. These items contain chemicals which we will help to keep out of landfills. We will also be collecting items such as winter coats/hats/mittens, eyeglasses and clothing in good condition to benefit local charities. What better way to recycle items you no longer wear by getting them to those that really need them? We will have a complete list of items that will be able to be recycled.
